University of Lagos-NCMG College of Negotiation

Effective negotiation and conflict management skills, as an integral part of leadership have become imperative for all executives. Until a decade ago, many did not know that negotiation skills could be learnt. It is now an advancing body of specialized knowledge and expertise. Exclusive negotiation institutes are already in existence in the U.S, UK and other nations e.g. Harvard Project on Negotiation (PON), U.S., Strauss Institute, Pepperdine University, U.S., Oxford Program on Negotiation, Oxford University, U.K., Dispute Resolution Centre, Bond University, Australia.

The art of negotiation and other ADR skills have become an imperative in Africa, which has an evolving economy and is constantly in need of conflict resolution interventions. Hence, the establishment of the COLLEGE OF NEGOTIATION (CON), a joint project of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Negotiation & Conflict Management Group (NCMG).

The UNILAG-NCMG College of Negotiation (“The College of Negotiation”) is a specialized institution jointly established by the University of Lagos, a foremost citadel of higher education in Africa, and the Negotiation & Conflict Management Group, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization committed to the study, teaching and research in the field of Negotiation, Mediation, Arbitration and conflict management mechanisms.

The College which was incorporated in Nigeria under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has its registered office at Nos. 1 and 6b James George Street, Ikoyi, Lagos State, Nigeria and will operate as an independent and autonomous institution that would exclusively be devoted to the promotion of training and research in Legal Studies, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Conflict Management.
